Does your community have emergency operations plan in place?

Hurricane season is here and starts June 1st through November 30th. Does your community have an emergency plan in place? Hurricanes are not the only emergency communities need to be prepared for. Community managers must have a plan in place in case of severe weather events, fires, floods, blood and now possible pandemics as we all experienced in 2020. Tornadoes touch down, hurricanes make landfall, floodwaters rise, fires burn, utilities are interrupted and even active shooters are events that can happen anywhere at any time.
It is importance that an emergency plan is in place for your community, condominium buildings or SFR portfolios. Who will be the point of contact in your community for the manager to be able to make decisions for the safety of the residents that cannot wait until the next meeting? Who are the vendors that will help you in these emergencies? How will you communicate with your residents when an emergency does happen? All of these questions should be answered and updated yearly with well detailed emergency operational plan.
